Prior to starting his own training program over ten years ago, Rick Millheim apprenticed with several nationally recognized professional trainers. Since then Rick established his own training program with proven results. The “Renegade Young Dog Program” is highly recognized and respected as one of the best in the business. Because of his high profile of integrity and professionalism, Rick Millheim has a strong following among trainers and competitors alike. Rick is the Head Trainer / Handler for the RENEGADE Team.

Young Dog Training Program

A young dog enters this program around six months of age. The main objective is to prepare this young dog for field trial competition. It takes approximately 6 to 8 months to progress dogs through the series of steps in the program. Each step is a building process of skills and tools for the next step. At the conclusion of this training the dog has a complete understanding of what is expected.

This program is designed to promote style and the dog’s full potential. Although our training focus is on field trials, we also train hunting dogs. Our program is the same for all dogs in order to maintain a high level of standard.
